Calathea Medallion is a classic variety with large dark green leaves, banded with silver and emerald green. In classic Calathea style the backs of the leaves are a dark red-purple.
Calathea is a member of the Maranta family along with Stromanthe and Ctenanthe. All have exquisite foliage and are known as Prayer Plants due to the way the leaves close upwards with the changing light of the day.
Light: Bright indirect to medium light, will tolerate some shade
Water: Keep the soil moist at all times, but definitely do not allow the plant to sit in water or in very wet soil.
Temperature: Prefers warm to high temperatures, 18-23°C Avoid draughts and ensure the plant has reasonable ventilation.
Feed: Apply a weak dose of fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing season

Choose a cover pot with a 16cm+ diameter
Your plant will arrive in a nursery pot, which has holes for drainage. There's no need to remove the plant from the nursery pot. Just pop the whole thing in a decorative pot.
